So intrigued by what Sean said re: The Circle. I want to hear more. The movie criticisms do a better job of deconstructing the problems than the Amazon reviews, but I liked Sean’s golden-retriever approach of thinking through this plot done well. It’s easy to identify one’s plot and characterization weaknesses, but it’s an entirely different task to train one’s writing away from them. I haven’t watched/read it yet, but reading the reviews, it sounds like Dave Eggers executed a bunch of misses that my own writing is regularly accused of. Hungry to do it right v. always going back and trying to fix.
